Differences between Thailand and Australia

When I first arrived at Perth airport, I felt that everything was very different and new for me - people, language, weather, buidings, traffic and houses.

When I got to my house, I was very surprised because nobody took off their shoes when coming into the house. In Thailand people must take off their shoes outside the front door. People don't put their feet on a table when they are talking to each other because Thai people believe that feet should be lower than the body. Thai people are very polite and smile all the time, they are very kind and gentle.

In Australia people eat bread more then rice. I've seen many big loaves of bread in the shops. In Australia shops and shopping centres are open 7 days, the same as in Thailand. Australians must buy food and keep it in the fridge or in the freezer. In Thailand we have many shops in all areas. In the village, people can buy anytime. day or night. If they forget something they can buy it anytime.

People in Australia are very healthy because they have good food, good doctors and good hospitals. When people in Australia go to public hospitals they don't have to pay. It's better than in Thailand. In Thailand people must pay themselves and it is very expensive. People in Thailand have no money to pay doctors and hospitals, so life expectancy is lower than in Australia. Here the government looks after the population.

Australia is very well organised and has many beautiful parks, It's clean and quiet with not much traffic. Drivers are very polite and keep the road rules. The Australia dollar is worth more than the Thai baht. There are about 30 baht to a dollar.

I am very happy to live in Australia. I like Australia but I love Thailand.

  1. Probably the biggest difference between Thailand and Australia is the basic fact that Thai culture has an old tradition. In contrast, Australia is a young country made up of a mixture of many cultures - indigenous, British, European, Asian, African and Middle-Eastern.
